When you want to rent your property, the first question arises in the mind, that how to find good tenants for our property, and your thinking is also valid as there are many frauds and scams taking place at rental properties. But there is a solution to this problem to some extent as if we take some care at the time of screening of tenants. Tenant screening will results in selecting better tenants for our property.

Screening is the first process that starts once an individual shows interest towards your property and sends you an application. The tenants get this opportunity when the landlords are careless about screening the candidate’s application file properly. Careful screening of the applicant’s application will give the landlords enough clues to decide whether to rent the house to the applicant or not.

At the time of screening there are many points on which a special attention is to be given, such as Social Security Number which gives the idea of authenticity of a person and it should be checked with government authorities. Another thing which is used for fraud works is the name. Some odd sounding names coupled with common names, are usually used. There are many people who supply wrong information regarding their employment. So we have to know the proper employment details of the person. Another foolproof way of checking a candidate is through the banking details that he/she has given in the application form. They should be checked from the prescribed bank and gives a lot of important information about that applicant.

If you are careful enough to conduct a careful screening, along with asking for credit, criminal and eviction reports, no one can cheat you. Better screening means better tenants, and better tenants means peace of mind.
